Written about 1600, Twelfth Night is full of mistaken identities, misdirected passions, high comedy, low tricks, and unexpected poignancy.

The play begins as the shipwrecked Viola is washed ashore on the fictional country of Illyria near the home of Olivia, a young countess who has sworn to have no contact with men for seven years.

Convinced her beloved twin brother Sebastian died in the shipwreck, Viola tries to survive in the foreign land by disguising herself as a boy named Cesario.

Cesario is soon sent by the enamored Duke Orsino to woo Olivia on his behalf. However Olivia finds herself attracted to Cesario who in turn begins to fall in love with Orsino.

The romantic triangle is further complicated when Viola's twin Sebastian suddenly emerges, alive and well.
