A&M International Students Inducted Into Alpha Kappa Delta

Seven Texas A&M International University students have been inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta, at international sociology honor society.

A&M International students inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta were Tamara Davis Casso, Estella Yvette Coronado, Jaime Gabriel Garza, Karen Louise Hale, Veronica G. Martinez, Edward P. Matos, and Melinda Vidaurri.

Inductees each received a Certificate of Membership during a brief initiation ceremony held at the University recently.

Membership in the honor society is limited to students with superior scholarship and serious interest in sociology.

A&M International was granted charter membership in Alpha Kappa Delta earlier this year. The new A&M International charter is officially named Alpha Zeta of Texas.

Founded in 1920, Alpha Kappa Delta derives its name from the first letters of three Greek words: anthropon (mankind), katamanthaneion (to investigate thoroughly or to conduct research), and diakonesein (for the purpose of service). When translated freely, the three-word phrase expresses both the goal and the method of the organization--to study humankind for the purpose of service.
