A&M International President Named to Board of Directors of CB&I

Dr. J. Charles Jennett, president of Texas A&M International University, has been named to the Board of Directors of Chicago Bridge and Iron Company, N.V.,one of the oldest and most respected engineering and construction companies in the world.

With world headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Chicago Bridge and Iron provides field-erected steel tanks and other steel plate structures for customers in petroleum and petrochemical industries, as well as the pulp and mining industry, and chemical, electrical and gas utilities.

The company designs, repairs and modifies steel tanks and associated systems such as petroleum terminators, refinery field erected pressure vessels, low temperature and cryogenic storage facilities and water storage tanks.

It is the leading provider of steel tanks in North America and leading provider of such services worldwide. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange as CBI and in 1996 posted sales over $663 million.

Jennett is the fourth president of Texas A&M International University. His appointment became effective Aug. 1, 1996.

Prior to joining A&M International, he was provost and vice president for academic affairs at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina and served as professor and chairman of the civil engineering department at Syracuse University and associate professor of civil engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla.

A widely published scholar, Jennett is the author or co-author of many publications in the environmental engineering arena. His engineering expertise has seen him involved in projects around the world, including England, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong and many others.

An admired teacher and professional, Jennett has been selected in recent years as the outstanding educator of the year and the outstanding engineer of the year by the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers and the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. He also has been named an outstanding alumnus of the University of New Mexico.
