Forty senior computer students from the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas will participate in a hands-on seminar on "Developing Multimedia Presentations" to be held at Texas A&M International University on Friday, October 31, from 5 - 9 p.m. in Pellegrino Hall room 219.

The seminar is sponsored by A&M International's Electronic Commerce Association (ECA), a student group dedicated to developing Internet skills.

Dr. George Kostopoulos, Professor of Information Systems in the College of Business Administration at A&M International and ECA faculty sponsor, will head the seminar.

Dr. Kostopoulos will provide an introduction to Multimedia components--text, images, audio, graphics--and offer a review of multimedia hardware and software.

Universidad Autonoma students will then use the University's state-of-the-art Multimedia Laboratory to practice using multimedia authoring tools and to develop multimedia projects.

Last year, Dr. Kostopoulos presented high-technology seminars for students from the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas and the Instituto Tecnologico de Nuevo Laredo. He also helped in the supervision of senior theses of Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas students. Next month he will be an invited speaker at the VII Simposium de Ingeniera en Sistemas Computacionales organized by the Instituto Tecnologico de Nuevo Laredo.

Kostopoulos explained the seminars and joint efforts are part of a program of cooperative activities developed by A&M International and the Mexican institutions.

"The cooperative program has been very successful. The seminars are especially important because they expose students to technologies that they are not familiar with. These technologies are in high demand. And since multimedia presentations are a must in today's top profession, this training will help further their careers," he said.

For more information on the Multimedia presentation, please call Dr. Kostopoulos at 326-2524 or e-mail the ECA at ecommerce@tamiu.edu.
