A&M International Slates Presentation on Rio Grande

Texas A&M International University will host a free presentation on "The Rio Grande International Study Center and Dia Del Rio" on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Canseco Hall room 101 on the University's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard.

Speaker for the presentation will be Dr. Thomas C. Vaughan, Associate Professor of Biology at A&M International. The public is invited to attend.

Dr. Vaughan will discuss the water quality and conditions of the Rio Grande, examine the role Laredo and Nuevo Laredo have in the degradation of the river, and pose possible solutions to the river's ecological problems.

Vaughan will also present information on the upcoming Dia Del Rio, a annual event to raise awareness of the river. This year's Dia Del Rio will feature expansion and ecological restoration of a nature trail. Persons who wish to volunteer for the event should contact Vaughan at 326-2592.

A&M International will host another presentation on the ecology, "Endangered Species," on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Canseco Hall room 101. The presentation will feature Dr. Kathryn Kennedy, of the US Fish and Wildlife.
