Third Annual Dusty Fun Run, Walk Posts Results from Saturday Event

Sunny skies and pleasant temperatures greeted the 135-plus participants in the rescheduled Third Annual Dusty Fun Run and Walk at Texas A&M International University Saturday morning.

The event, sponsored by NBC Bank of Laredo, Falcon National Bank and Follett's Bookstores, is hosted by the University's Alumni Association and helps to support student scholarships.

In addition to competitive 5 and 10K events, a non-competitive 5K walk and children's 1 mile walk were held.

A&M International president Charles Jennett presented trophies to the winners who were also treated to a debut performance by the University1s High Twisters, a student dance group.

The winners are as follows:

Best Overall 5K - Benny Rodriguez, 15.26

Best Overall 10K - Efrain Velasquez, 32.00.

Both Velasquez and Rodriguez represented Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

10K Male Under 21 - First, Sabino Mena; Second, Eddie Gonzalez; Third, Joey Hernandez.

10K Male, 21-29 - First, Efrain Velasquez; Second Victor Moreno; Third, Aristeo Gonzalez.

10K Male, 30-39 - First, Felipe Rojas; Second, Juan Sotelo; Third, Heri Sanchez.

10K Male, 40-49 - First, Alfredo Zarate; Second, Richard Sames; Third, Felipe Esparza.
