A Texas A&M International University faculty member recently traveled to Montepellier, France to present an article that provides a closer look at three countries' comic book industries.

Dr. Alain Genestre, assistant professor of marketing, made his appearance at a conference sponsored by the Graduate School of Business at Montepellier.

The article, titled "Comparing Different Marketing Strategies in the Comic Book Industries of France, Japan, and the U.S.A.," presents a qualitative analysis comparing the different marketing practices of each of the three countries' comic book industry. The work is a combined effort of three faculty members, including Dr. Genestre; Dr. Jackie Mayfield, assistant professor of management and business communications; and Dr. Milton Mayfield, assistant professor of management and research methodology.

While the article highlights strengths and weaknesses of each country's comic book industry, it also provides preliminary suggestions on which marketing practices may be successfully adapted cross-culturally.
