The Texas A&M International University community celebrated Thanksgiving one step ahead of the holidays as students, faculty members and staff gathered at the University's Great Room on Monday for the second "Annual Thanksgiving Feast."

Those who attended the lunch-hour feast, which was organized by the Student Government Association, were treated with a hearty Thanksgiving meal, along with side dishes that some of the participants prepared.

"We chose to do this again this year just to bring everyone together before the holiday season starts and to kick off the end of the semester," said Arturo Sánchez, president of the SGA.

The feast also gave students who live far away from home an opportunity to experience a traditional Thanksgiving meal, Sánchez said.

David VerMilyea, director of student development, said he thinks the meal helped participants realize that "we are truly thankful for substance and friendship."
