Students attending Texas A&M International University will find greater scholarship support available to them thanks to the generosity of NBC Bank.

NBC Bank announced a $53,000 gift to A&M International at a special reception Monday in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

Duane Kolly, NBC Bank Sr. Vice President, said the Bank's gift is intended to help more students secure brighter futures.

"We're keenly interested in helping to increase local students' access to higher education at A&M International. Over 60 percent of University students seek scholarship assistance. We are delighted to be able to provide these funds in support of making futures brighter through higher education," he explained.

A&M International president Dr. Charles Jennett said the University is indeed appreciative of the generous NBC Bank contribution.

"We certainly applaud this investment in our students' futures. While the State of Texas has indeed been kind to us in providing support for constructing Texas' newest University and developing needed programs, there is a tremendous need for scholarship assistance. We hope that others will follow the exemplary corporate lead of NBC Bank," Dr. Jennett said.

The four-year gift provided by NBC Bank will support an annual $7000 scholarship fund for students from the community's seven high schools. The gift will also include a $6,250 annual gift that will be used to establish an intended endowment to provide scholarships for students attending the University's College of Business Administration.

Monday's ceremony will include the presentation of the first installment of the gift, totalling $13,250.
