Texas A&M International University students who are feeling the pressures of end-of-semester exams are invited to attend a free lunchtime talk on Wednesday, December 10 from 12 noon - 1 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 101.

The talk, titled "Making Sure Finals Don't Finally Kill You!" will be presented by Dr. Jeffrey Brown, Assistant Professor of Psychology at A&M International.

Dr. Brown will offer strategies for managing stress and explain how stress can interfere with academic performance.

Research shows the mental, emotional, and physical effects of stress can result in difficulties with concentration, anxiety, forgetfulness, and poor health. Students who are able to manage their stress level can concentrate better, learn new information better, and remember more.

Students are invited to bring their lunch to the presentation. Beverages and light snacks will be served.

The talk is part of a series of free lunchtime talks sponsored through the University's Safety, Health, and Wellness Initiative. Other scheduled lunchtime talks include: "Successful Weight Reduction," Jan. 28; "Heart Healthy Living," Feb. 11; "Fitness Through Aerobic and Resistance Training," Feb. 25; "Rites of Spring: Preventing and Overcoming Sports Injuries," Mar. 4; "Sexual Diversity Panel Discussion," Apr. 29.

All talks will be held from 12 noon - 1 p.m. The aerobics talk will be held in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building. All other talks will be held in Bullock Hall room 101.

Presenters will include local physicians, health care professionals, and University faculty.
