The Texas A&M International University community welcomed the holiday season in high spirits as it participated in the annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony Monday.

Those who attended the "Third Holiday Lighting Ceremony" at the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library took pleasure in humming to the tune of traditional Christmas songs played by the Texas A&M International University Band. The band, directed by Elmo Lopez Sr., made its debut performance at the ceremony.

Also leading the crowd into an uplifting holiday season aura was Chairman of the English, Spanish, and Fine Arts Department Dr. Ray M. Keck, who also played seasonal pieces for the crowd in piano.

A&M International President Dr. Charles Jennett, along with "Dusty," the official University mascot, lit the tree, which was decorated in maroon and silver ornaments.

Those who wish to see the tree before the holidays may do so by visiting the Great Room.
