A&M International Holds Blood Drive Thurs., April 2

Texas A&M International University, in cooperation with the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, will hold a Blood Drive on Thursday, April 2 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the

University's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard, in the foyer of Canseco Hall.

Donors will receive free blood typing, cholesterol level, hemoglobin and hematocrit level, HIV and syphilis testing, and membership in a Blood Benefit Plan which entitles donors and their immediate family to financial coverage of uninsured blood costs of up to $1,000 for a period of one year after donation.

Anyone between the ages of 17 and 72 who weighs at least 110 pounds, has not had hepatitis, and is in good general health may donate blood.

Donors must show proper photo identification such as a student ID or a driver's license before beginning the donation process.

The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center suggests that donors eat a nutritious breakfast or lunch before donating blood. Donors are also advised to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes when giving blood.

Aspirin and aspirin-like products should be avoided for three days prior to donating, if possible.
