Local and area high school students will have a chance to peek into a future of possibilities at "Preview Day 1998" at Texas A&M International University, Saturday, March 21 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Kinesiology-Convocation building.

Betty Momayezi, Director of the Office of Enrollment Management and School Relations, said the event is designed as a one-stop shop for information on Texas' newest four-year University.

"We wanted to offer all local and area high school students and their families an opportunity to spend some time with us and get to know us, our faculty, our programs and our services. It's a great opportunity to get questions answered and learn about the University's exciting growth and offerings all in a casual and interactive atmosphere," she said.

The event is free of charge and space reservations can be made by calling (956) 326-2272.

The morning will begin with a registration session at 9 a.m. in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building, in Phase II of the northeast Laredo campus.

After opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m., students will have an opportunity to tour the campus, attend an information fair, and learn about financial aid, University scholarships, on-campus student apartments and University life. Food, fun and entertainment will round out the event, Momayezi said. A live broadcast by radio station KNXT, 106.1, will be part of the festivities and all Preview Day participants will be treated to a cookout.

"We're excited about sharing this opportunity to preview the possibilities here at A&M International with potential students, their families and visitors. With 23 undergraduate and 21 graduate degrees available and new degrees such as Fitness and Sports, Biology and Communications on the horizon, A&M International is a remarkable learning and living opportunity," she said.

"We're proud of our new, state of the art facilities. Phases I and II of our campus include over $70 million in facilities and our $45 million Phase III addition will bring a student development center, fine arts complex, intramural complex and more to our campus, further enhancing student opportunities here," she said.

Momayezi said "Preview Day 1998" offers a fun opportunity for entering freshmen to preview Texas A&M International University and encourages all to attend.
