Texas A&M International University will offer a continuing education class on "Self Defense for Women" on Wednesday, March 18 from 6 - 9 p.m. on the University's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard, in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building.

The class will be offered again on Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Tuition is $20 per person.

The class features both common sense instruction on avoiding dangerous situations plus expert demonstrations on ways to fend off physical attacks and deal with assault situations.

Participants will practice self defense techniques and should therefore be prepared to engage in physical activity.

Instructor will be Juan Manuel Martinez, self defense expert and former police chief.

Women who are interested in registering for either class may obtain more information by calling the University's Office of Continuing Education at 326-2700, or visiting offices in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Room 332 West. Office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
