Texas A&M International University invites United Independent School District administrators, principals, assistant principals, trainers and Advanced Placement (AP) supervisors to participate in a Presentation and Round Table Discussion on UISD's AP and Pre-AP programs.

The Presentation and Round Table will be held on Friday March 27 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the University's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard, in Pellegrino Hall room 106.

The day-long event will include a brief welcoming reception, a morning session, catered lunch, and afternoon session. The morning session will be a detailed presentation exploring the best ways to administer a successful Advanced Placement program. Presenter will be W.C. Smith, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District, Baytown, Texas.

The afternoon session will be a Round Table Discussion focusing on the past, present, and future of Advanced Placement and Pre-AP programs at UISD.

Advanced Placement programs give high school students an opportunity to take college-level courses in high school for high school credit. Then, by scoring well on the Advanced Placement exams, students can either gain college credit for these courses or can omit lower level courses and immediately take courses at a higher or more advanced level in college.

Fee to attend the Presentation and Round Table Discussion is $75 per participant. Lunch is included. Interested persons may register for the Round Table by visiting the University's Office of Continuing Education located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 332 West.

For more information, please call the Office of Continuing Education at 326-2700. Office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. Information may also be secured by email at ojmunoz@tamiu.edu.
