Members of the community are invited to attend a film festival scheduled to be held Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. at Texas A&M International University, Bob Bullock Hall, room 118.

The film festival, organized by Dr. Frances Gates Rhodes, associate professor of English, and Dr. Rafael Lecuona, professor of political science, will consist of the showing of "La Historia Oficial" (The Official Story). The film was made in Argentina.

Admission to the festival is free of charge.

"La Historia Oficial," a film that lasts approximately 112 minutes, is the story of the situation in Argentina when urban guerillas members fought to eliminate the government, and often, "disappeared" and became known as "desaparecidos."

The children of the "disappeared" were adopted by families that did not know the children's parents. The discovery of this fact created a deep social crisis in Argentina that continues to have ramifications.

The film, which will be shown in English subtitles, has won many awards and is well recommended for viewing.

For further information, please contact Dr. Lecuona at 326-2528 or Dr. Rhodes at 326-2608. University office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
