Texas A&M International University's College of Business Administration will offer a special one-week course in ISO 9000 Training from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. May 4 - 9.

The course, which will be held at the University in Pellegrino Hall, will be offered jointly with Perry Johnson, Inc., an international training and consulting firm that has served 85 percent of Fortune 500 companies.

The ISO 9000 is a quality system standard that has become the mandate for many Fortune 500 companies, particularly the auto industry. Big Three automakers now require suppliers to comply to QS-9000, an automotive standard that embraces the ISO 9000.

Logistics, transportation and freight-forwarding companies have also sought ISO 9000 certification to retain customers who now require its utilization.

Under new industry standards, it is recommended that companies with less than 30 employees have one to two Internal Auditors certified in ISO 9000.

Cost for the one-week training is $3,000 and will include breakfast from 7:30 - 8 a.m. daily. Class size will be limited so advance registration is required.

Interested persons should contact Duane Burdorf, director of A&M International's Texas Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development, at 956. 326.2546 or by email at dburdorf@tamiu.edu.

University office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
