A&M International Offers Physical Education Seminar for Classroom Teachers

Texas A&M International University is scheduled to offer a physical education seminar for classroom teachers from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Friday, April 17 at the Kinesiology Convocation Building on campus.

At the seminar, master teacher John Thomson will discuss techniques to motivate all ages, how to encourage critical thinking activities in physical education, integration of physical education in other disciplines and early childhood skill development.

Thomson is the director of educational services for U.S. Games equipment company. He has been selected as the National Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 1991 and has repeatedly amazed audiences with his innovative and cooperative teaching techniques.

The seminar will start with coffee and registration. Registration fees are $25 for professionals and $5 for full-time students. Students must provide a copy of their student I.D.'s. Deadline for early registration is April 10.

Registration forms may be obtained by contacting Dr. Leon Dulin, assistant professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department, at Texas A&M International University-College of Education, 5201 University Laredo, Texas 78041. Completed registration forms should be sent to the same address.

Particpants of the seminar should attend in sports attire so they can take part in physical education activities, Dulin said.
