The Texas A&M International University Student Ambassadors will host a barbecue for current A&M International students and new students for Fall 1998 who are interested in joining the student service organization. The barbecue will be held at the A&M International campus in University Village, the student housing complex, on Saturday, April 25, from 1 - 5 p.m.

A&M International students interested in attending the event should RSVP to the Student Ambassador office at 326-2272.

Students who attend the barbecue will receive invitations to a Student Ambassador social hosted by A&M International president Dr. Charles Jennett and his wife Linda. The social will be held at the Jennett home on Sunday, April 26, from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

A third event for A&M International students interested in joining the Student Ambassadors will be held on Thursday, April 30, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the University in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library (room 319). The event, a reception and awards presentation, will include an appearance by Rep. Henry Cuellar who will address the group on the importance of becoming involved in service organizations like the Student Ambassadors.

Student Ambassadors serve as a liaison between students and administrators, provide campus tours to visitors, accompany representatives of the University at recruitment events, participate in new student orientation, and act as hosts for various campus functions.

To be eligible to join the Student Ambassadors, students must be enrolled at A&M International and have at least a 2.0 grade point average. Incoming freshmen must have graduated in the top 20% of their class to be eligible.
