Members of the community are invited to visit Texas A&M International University's state-of-the-art Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library and avail themselves of the diverse array of resources and services the Library has to offer. Services at A&M International's Killam Library range from Internet access to microfiche files and special collections, said Killam Library Director Rodney Webb.

"While our principal user group remains our students and faculty, our Library has a strong public service component and we have a number of programs that the general public can access to make full use of our facilities," Webb said.

The 4-story Killam Library currently houses more than 129,000 bound volumes, 651,193 microform volumes, and receives approximately 1,000 current periodical subscriptions and 1,000 electronic journals. Over 80 bibliographic and full-text databases are available. Library patrons may access additional databases from the Knight Ridder/Dialog Information Retrieval Service and may access hundreds of World Wide Web sites from computer stations with Internet connections.

The NOTIS library system provides electronic access to the collection and to a number of journal citation databases. The Killam Library is an official selective depository of US federal and Texas state documents, and the University belongs to OCLC, a national library network that makes the resources of other institutions available to University students through interlibrary loan.

Webb singled out the Killam Library's community card and A&M International alumni provisions as examples of services available to the public.

"Our community card is available to anyone over 18 years of age and allows the bearer to check out five books for two weeks for a year-long period. The cost is $25. Current members of the University's Alumni Association have only to present their alumni card to use the Library's facilities and check out books," he said.

Webb said community members are always welcome to utilize the Killam Library and its extensive computer resources, including Internet access, as space permits.

"While our primary focus is on students, we invite members of the community at large to utilize our computer resources, and welcome their accessing these services," he added.
