Texas A&M International University's High Twisters Dance Team recently returned from a dance camp in San Marcos, Texas, after earning numerous ribbons and a trophy for their hard work and dedication.

The High Twisters competed with dance teams from the University of Texas, University of Texas Pan Am, University of Texas El Paso, Texas A&M Tarleton, University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University, Hardin Simmons University, Angelina Community College, Ranger Community College, The University of Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist University, San Jacinto Community College, and Coffeville Community College.

Araceli Rangel, High Twisters' sponsor, said that the Superior Trophy, the trophy won by the High Twisters, is difficult to earn in one's first camp participation.

"To win a trophy is a great honor since not all colleges or universities attending received this honor. The High Twisters were excellent and received many compliments from the Universal Dance Association instructors," Rangel said.

Members who attended include Claudia Flores, Vanessa Garcia, Adriana Juarez and Claire Rangel.

The High Twisters are a recent addition to the more than 30 clubs and organizations on campus.
