A&M International Honors Two Outstanding Employees

Two Texas A&M International University employees, Imelda Lopez and Barbara B. Lunce, have been selected as recipients of the University's Outstanding Employee Service Award for 1997 - 1998.

A&M International President Dr. Charles Jennett announced the selection at an employee luncheon held in the Great Room of the University's Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

Dr. Jennett praised both recipients for their exceptional job performance and exemplary service to the University.

Lopez, named Outstanding Classified Employee, is Graduate Admissions Counselor with the University's College of Business Administration. She joined the University in September, 1990 as a secretary in the University's division of Business Administration and was promoted to Graduate Admissions Counselor in September, 1995.

Lunce, named Outstanding Administrative Employee, is the University Registrar. She joined the University in June, 1994 as Certification Specialist in the Office of Admissions and was promoted to her present position in April, 1995.

Lopez and Lunce each received a commemorative plaque, a monetary award, and an honorary designated parking space for one year.

Nominations for the Outstanding Employee Service Award were submitted by University employees. A Selection Committee comprised of recipients of the 1994-95, 1995-96, and 1996-97 Outstanding Employee Service Award made final selections based on job performance, outstanding achievements, special qualities, and other criteria.

Selection Committee members included Phillip J. Lane, Veronica Martinez, Fortunato Mireles, Laura Moran-Lopez, Susan E. W. Nichols, and Dr. Michael Roth, committee chair.
