Donors and recipients of some 350 scholarships awarded at Texas A&M International University will be honored by the University on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library (room 319).

The event will begin with a reception from 6 - 6:45 p.m. followed by a short program. The program will include welcoming remarks and recognition of donors by A&M International president Dr. Charles Jennett; remarks from student representative Gina De La Miyar, and remarks from Dr. Stephen Brown, Dean of Student Affairs at A&M International.

Dr. Brown explained the event will recognize the individuals, families and businesses who have made a significant investment in the lives of A&M International students.

"Our scholarship donors are contributing directly to the future quality of life of our community. They have made an investment in education which is the most direct method we know of insuring that a qualified workforce and an educated leadership will guide our community into the 21st century," said Dr. Brown.

Michelle A. Alexander, Vice President for Advancement and External Affairs at A&M International, added the event will also afford scholarship donors an opportunity to meet the students who benefited from their generous donations.

"Our students know the full range of support provided for them by the community and are most appreciative. They often write letters to those who have provided scholarship gifts to let them know of their degree progress. This event will give them the opportunity to meet those who are investing in their future and our community's future," Alexander observed.
