University Kicks Off Safety, Health & Wellness Initiative Mon., Sept. 14

Texas A&M International University will announce activities for the "Safety, Health, and Wellness Initiative 1998 - 99" during a kickoff to be held Monday, Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library (room 319).

Members of the University and the community at large are invited to attend this free event. Refreshments will be served.

The first activity for the Initiative will be a Health Fair scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Canseco Hall on the University's main campus, 5201 University Boulevard.

Other activities for the Safety, Health, and Wellness Initiative include Breast and Testicular Cancer Awareness activities in October, an alcohol-alternative social in November, AIDS Awareness activities in December, a kickoff for a high school alcohol abuse prevention art contest in January, "Shape Up/Ship Out" Health Awareness program in February, Peer Pressure and Alcohol Abuse Awareness in March, and in April the Clothesline Project and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Art Contest award presentation.
