A&M International' Thompson Receives Citation Award from SA Conservation Society

Dr. Jerry Thompson, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Texas A&M International University, has been named the recipient of the 1998 Citation of the San Antonio Conservation Society.

Dr. Thompson's publication Wild and Vivid Land: An Illustrated History of the South Texas Border, published by the Texas State Historical Association, was selected by SAC's Publication Awards Committee for the prestigious award.

Paula Piper, SAC president, and David LaRo, publication awards chairman, said the Citation "reflects our sincere appreciation for a work which furthers the purpose of the Conservation Society."

Thompson was honored at an awards ceremony held this week in San Antonio at the Steves Homestead House Museum.

A member of the A&M international faculty since 1987,Thompson holds his doctoral degree in history from Carnegie-Mellon University. His MA in History was earned at the University of New Mexico and his BA in History at Western New Mexico University.
