Texas A&M International University will host the Laredo Transportation Association's first International Truck Rodeo on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the University campus.

The truck rodeo, believed to be the first of its kind in the country, will consist of a written test, an oral interview, a pre-trip inspection of a tractor-trailer and a driving competition. Mexican drivers are also invited.

The written exam will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at A&M International in Pellegrino Hall, room 101. The test will be in English and Spanish and will be based on the Commercial Drivers License or the Mexican equivalent.

The entry fee is $25 and prizes will include $1,000 for first place, $750 for second and $500 for third. The winner of the competition will be the competitor with the highest cumulative score from all four parts.

Checking-in time on Saturday, Oct. 10 will be at 8 a.m. at the eastern parking lot of the campus. Course orientation will be at 9 a.m. and the first event will start at 10 a.m., also at the eastern parking lot.

A&M International student organizations will sell food and drinks at the event. All proceeds will be used to support the organizations.
