Texas A&M International University's College of Education has announced EXCET registration guidelines and test dates for 1998-1999. The December test date registration deadline is November 20.

Students registering for the test administration in December need to turn their registration forms and eligibility forms in to the Certification office no later than than Nov. 16 to allow time for the registration forms to reach the testing center by Nov. 20, the date it must be received.

Only three other test dates will be held in 1999.

The ExCET test dates and respective registration deadlines are as follows:

February 20, 1999 -- Registration Deadline January 15,1999

April 17, 1999 -- Registration Deadline March 12, 1999

June 12, 1999 -- Registration Deadline May 28, 1999.

"To register for the ExCET, candidates must first obtain a barcode verifying their eligibility to take the test. Eligibility forms and ExCET registration bulletins may be obtained from the Certification Office, Killam Library 333," Dr. Sakta explained.

Sakta said that test candidates should make a concerted effort to visit the Certification Office one semester prior to the date they plan to take the ExCET test to review barcode eligibility requirements.

"Because of the rigid exam schedule and security guidelines, we require all candidates to submit needed forms to our office for final approval no later than 3 weeks before the registration deadline. All forms must be submitted no later than 10 working days before the registration deadline for review and approval of the barcode. Forms received after the 10-day cutoff deadline may not be reviewed for barcode eligibility for the desired test date.

Sakta reminds candidates for the exam that in order to be eligible for the test, candidates will be required to successfully complete designated capstone courses, ExCET review sessions and ExCET pretests.
