A&M International Students May Apply for Paid HACU Internships

Texas A&M International University students are invited to apply for paid 10- and 15-week internships at federal agencies and private corporations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and in sites throughout the country.

The internships are offered Jan. 22 - May 8, June 4 - Aug. 14, and Aug. 27 - Dec. 11 through the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program.

Applications are available through A&M International's Office of Career Planning and Placement, located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 157. Deadline to submit completed applications and additional required documents to the Office of Career Planning and Placement is Nov. 23.

Applicants must be permanent residents or US citizens, must have completed the freshman year before the internship begins, have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, must be a currently enrolled student, and be available to participate in the internship program.

Interns receive round-trip transportation to the job site plus stipends of $390 per week for sophomores and juniors, $430 per week for seniors, and $510 per week for graduate and law students.

Participating federal agencies include the Central Intelligence Agency, the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Energy, Health and Human Services, Interior, Labor, Transportation and Treasury, the Environmental Protection Agency, Library of Congress, the National Science Foundation, Office of Personnel Management, Overseas Private Investment Corporation, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, and Veteran Affairs Administration.

Participating corporate partners include Coors Brewing Company, ServiceMaster Management, and State Fair Foods, Inc.
