A&M International Employees Honored for Years of Service

Thirty-six Texas A&M International University employees who have been with the institution for 5, 10, 15, and 25 years were recently recognized for their years of service to the University.

The employees received plaques of appreciation and were honored during the University's Employee Christmas Banquet.

Employees recognized for completing Five Years of Service were: Rick Bocanegra, Micro-Computer Support Consultant; Dr. Martin W. Broin, Associate Professor of Production and Operations Management; Duane W. Burdorf, Director of the Texas Center for the Border Economics and Enterprise Development; Hortencia Carrillo, Staff Assistant, Department of Professional Programs; Elsie R. De Leon, Admissions Assistant; Samuel Flores, Staff Assistant, Office of Financial Aid; Elias Flores, Jr., Property Inventory Specialist; M. Laura Elizondo, Associate Director, Office of Financial Aid; Yolanda L. Gonzalez, Human Resources Employment Assistant; Rogelio H. Hinojosa, Acquisitions Librarian; Dr. Pedro Hurtado, Associate Professor of Logistics and Management; Dr. Patricia Lozano, Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education and Alternative Certification Program Director; Roberto Lozano, Jr., Receiving Clerk; Josie Martinez, Executive Secretary to the Dean, College of Education; Dr. Linda C. Medearis, Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education and Chair of the Department of Special Populations; Jose D. Moctezuma, Director of Budget, Payroll, Grants, and Contracts; Dr. J. Michael Patrick, Professor of Economics and Chair of the Department of Management and Marketing; Dr. Jacqueline L. Power, Assistant Professor of Accounting; Dr. Antonio J. Rodriguez, Associate Professor of Finance; Janet K. Salinas, Graphics Technician; Martha S. Treviño, Staff Assistant, Department of Psychology and Sociology; Elizabeth R. Valdez, Staff Assistant, Career Planning and Placement; and Rodney Webb, Director of the Killam Library.

Employees Completing 10 Years of Service were Nora A. Lerma, Payroll Specialist; Laura R. Moran-Lopez, Executive Secretary to the Dean, College of Arts and Humanities; Dr. Jerry D. Thompson, Dean, College of Arts and Humanities, and Professor of History; Dr. James R. Giermanski, Professor of Management; Dr. Thomas Vaughan, Associate Professor of Biology, and Dr. Miroslava B. Vargas, Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education.

Completing 15 Years of Service were Maria de Lourdes Arce, Student Records Assistant; and Maria E. Hernandez, Accounting Manager.

Employees Completing 20 Years of Service were Sylvia Olivares, Executive Secretary to the Vice President for Finance and Administration; Concepcion C. Hickey, Director of the Academic Enrichment Center; and Dr. Juan R. Lira, Professor of Education.

Completing 25 Years of Service were Laura C. Rea, Director of Purchasing and Support Services; and Mary T. Treviño, Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness/Special Assistant to the President.
