Tuesday, Feb. 23 will mark the third installment of a successful Texas A&M International University community outreach initiative aimed at bringing the University's message and mission home to its community.

Dubbed "Come Home to Your University," it will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Northeast Hillside Recreation Center, 320 Wyoming.

Dr. Stephen Brown, Dean of Student Affairs at A&M International, said the effort has proven successful and is bridging an information gap.

" 'Come Home' events at the Cigarroa Recreation Center and the Farias Recreation Center were most successful. We believe that efforts like this and our recent area-wide Financial Aid Fair are helping to bridge the information gap and let our citizens know that higher education is an affordable and accessible necessity," Dr. Brown said, "It's also a great opportunity for us to meet people and bring the University home to them."

University personnel will be on hand to provide information about the University, and assist attendees with financial aid applications. Entertainment will be provided by University students and community performance groups. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Scheduled are bilingual presentations on the University's programs, performances by student groups including members of the University 's dance groups, presentations by University graduates and current students from the neighborhood, and a special dinner.

The last program in the current series is scheduled on Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Farias Recreation Center, 1601 Farias.
