University Issues Call for Papers, Posters for Primavera Conference

Organizers of Texas A&M International University's 16th Annual Primavera Conference are inviting members of the community to submit proposals for papers, posters, or panels in any area of Women's or Gender Studies.

Local and area high school students are especially encouraged to submit proposals for posters.

Proposals should include a one-page abstract, 250 words maximum, with the title listed at the top, and, on a separate sheet, the title, and the submitter's name, affiliation, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address.

Proposals should be submitted in English or Spanish to Dr. Kati Pletsch de Garcia, by mail at Texas A&M International University, 5201 University Blvd, Laredo, TX 78041, by fax at (956) 326-2469, or by e-mail at kdegarcia@tamiu.edu.

Deadline for receipt of proposals is Wednesday, Feb. 24. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by Mar. 5.

Presentation time for accepted papers or panels will be 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion.

Posters must be freestanding and should be constructed on a standard-sized trifold cardboard display form or on foam core board cut to standard size.

Themed "Diversity and Tolerance" or "Diversidad y Tolerancia" the Primavera Conference will be held at A&M International on Saturday, Mar. 27. The Conference will be preceded by a reception on Friday, Mar. 26 to mark both the opening of the Poster Demonstration exhibit and the celebration of the " Brindis a la Mujer," a toast on behalf of women in the United States and Mexico. The Poster Demonstration will remain on display through Mar. 27 as part of the Conference.
