Texas A&M International University's Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) will offer two free workshops designed to help students succeed on the TASP (Texas Academic Skills Program).

The free workshops are open to all A&M International students and to any person in the community who needs to prepare for the TASP.

A TASP Writing Workshop, a review for the writing section of the TASP, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25 from 1 - 4 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 202. The workshop will be conducted by Carlos Flores and Ismael Hinojosa, tutors with the Univesity's Tutoring Center.

A TASP Math Workshop, a review for the math section of the TASP, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 204. The workshop will be conducted by Tutoring Center tutors Neetash Sharma and Roxana Garcia.

The workshops will help participants become familiar with the contents of the test, the format of the test items, and the best strategies for working through the TASP test.

The TASP test will be administered at the University on Mar. 6.

TASP is a statewide program required by Texas law to ensure that students entering Texas public colleges and universities have the basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills needed to be successful in college-level work.

All full- or part-time students enrolled at Texas public colleges and universities and those entering any educator preparation program in Texas must take the TASP, unless qualified for TASP exemption.

Students who need more information on the TASP may contact Sandra Sanders, AEC associate director, at 326-2132 during normal business hours.

Information may also be secured by email at ssanders@tamiu.edu.

Journalists who need additional information or help with media requests and interviews should contact the Office of Public Affairs and Information Services at pais@tamiu.edu
