A Texas A&M International University faculty member has been invited to join the editorial board of a journal focused on human resource development and management.

Dr. Kamal Fatehi, interim dean of the College of Business Administration, will serve on the editorial board of the International Journal of Human Resource Development and Management. The new journal, published by the University of Cincinnati, will cover topics such as worker rights, benefits and responsibilities; employee - management relations; strategic planning and allocation; recruitment and work practices; cultural, cross-cultural and gender issues; role of the unions and worker employability and transferability of skills.

Fatehi, who has earned wide recognition in the area of management, said he was honored to join the journal.

"I am quite honored," Fatehi said, "This honor does not come by easily. Only a selected few who are recognized for their intellectual contribution to the field are invited to be on the editorial board."

The first issue of the journal will contain Fatehi's article written with Dr. James Giermanski, A&M International professor of management, on "National Labor Unions' Quandry: The Need for Internationalization." The article discusses the problems unions face when dealing with international companies.

Fatehi joined A&M International in 1996 as a professor of management. Prior to joining A&M International, he taught management at Wichita State University. He has also held faculty positions at Eastern Illinois University, Western Illinois University and Louisiana State University. He holds a Ph.D. in management from Louisiana State University.

Among awards he has received are being named a Fulbright Senior Scholar; Faculty Award for Exceptional Research, Barton School of Business, Wichita State University; Best Research Paper Award, California State University, San Bernardino; and Outstanding Scholar and recipient of the Presidential Merit Award, Western Illinois University.
