Texas A&M International University students wanting to study science and mathematics have a new corporate ally with the announcement of a new endowed undergraduate scholarship.

Representatives of the Ford Motor Company have announced the establishment of The Ford Motor Company Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship in Science and Mathematics at A&M International. The $25,000 gift was presented in ceremonies Wednesday.

Ford Motor Company Plant Manager Aldo Ochoa joined A&M International president Dr. Charles Jennett for the presentation, noting the importance of helping to educate future generations.

"We are happy to be able to provide this assistance to deserving students who will become leaders in their field. Ford is honored to be a part of the most important investment of all -- higher education," Ochoa said.

Dr. Jennett applauded the support provided by Ford and encouraged others to follow the leadership example provided by Ford.

"We are grateful for this special gift for our students and know that it will make a distinct difference in their lives of our students and those of their families. We would urge others to follow the fine example provided by Ford," Dr. Jennett said.

The scholarship will be available to students beginning this Fall at the University.

It will provide for tuition, books and fees for study at A&M International for students majoring in Science or Mathematics. The Scholarship will be renewable provided the recipient continues to meet established criteria.
