Over 100 representatives from local, regional, and national employers will participate in Texas A&M International University's "Global Opportunities `99," a free career and teacher fair to be held Thursday, Mar. 25 from 2 - 5 p.m. at the University's Kinesiology/Convocation Building.

The free event provides a forum for A&M International students, alumni, and community members to meet with prospective employers to discuss various career options, learn information about possible employment opportunities. Employers can share information about possible employment opportunities, and receive advice on career planning and successfully following chosen career paths.

"It's a great opportunity for our students, our alumni, and members of the community to consider new careers, assess their current careers, or perhaps begin augmenting their career skills with a graduate degree. The best part is that they can accomplish all of this in one location with no travel or expense and at times convenient times to them," said Viky Garcia, Director of Career Planning and Placement at A&M International.

Employers participating in Global Opportunities '99 represent various employment fields including retail outlets, education districts, state offices and agencies, and non-profit organizations.

Among the participants are: Abilene Independent School District; AmeriCorps; Austin Independent School District; Austin Police Department; Bureau of Labor Statistics; Avon Products; Brownsville Independent School District; City of Laredo-Administrative Service Department; Comptroller of Public Accounts; Cooper Industries, Cotulla Independent School District; Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.; H.E.B. Grocery Company; Howard Johnson on the Rio Grande; International Back of Commerce; Laredo Independent School District-Division of Human Resources; The Laredo National Bank; ManPower; Mercy Regional Medical Center; Navy Officer Programs; Oregon State Police; Parkland Health & Hospital System; Railroad Commission of Texas; Ser-Jobs for Progress of Southwest Texas; San Antonio Police Department; The Sherwin-Williams Company; Southwest Independent School District; Target Greatland; Texas Department of Banking; Texas A&M University; US Border Patrol; US Immigration and Naturalization Service; the University of North Texas Graduate School; The University of Texas at San Antonio; and Wal-Mart Distribution.
