Eleven A&M International Students Attend International Conference

Eleven Texas A&M International University students who are members of the University's International Business Association, a student organization, participated in a conference on international business held in Mexico at the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).

A&M International students who participated in the conference were America Baez, Zoila Covarrubias, Luz Leal-Esqueda, Nuria Gabitova, David Jones, Lance Lucas, Pelé Ortiz, Sarah S. Sanchez, Edgar Villarreal, Halia Valladares, and Martin Warning.

The students' participation in the conference was funded through a grant from the University's Student Government Association.

Themed "Chaos, Change and Future," the conference featured presentations on international business issues and past and present economic problems of the United States, Mexico, and countries in Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

In addition to attending key conference presentations, the A&M International students also toured the ITESM campus, and explored the prestigious institution's "Virtual University."

Founded in 1943, ITESM is a private institution with 26 campuses in Mexico, a student enrollment of nearly 70,000 and a faculty of 5,700. ITESM universities are linked by a telecommunication network that includes over 15,000 computers. The "Virtual University" provides classes via satellite for institutions in Mexico, and Central and South America.
