4th Annual A&M International 'Dusty' Scholarship Golf Tournament Friday

Golfers from throughout the city and region will be taking a swing for student scholarships at the Fourth Annual Texas A&M International University "Dusty" Scholarship Golf Tournament Friday and Saturday at the Casa Blanca Golf Course.

Registration will be underway Friday from 5-9 p.m. With a skills contest and silent auction/mixer also underway. Saturday Tee times are at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Single entry fees are $150. Team entry fees are $450. All proceeds support student scholarships at A&M International. Saturday's Breakfast, lunch and an awards dinner are included in the registration fee.

Prizes for the golf tournament include three new cars, a cash prize of $10,000 and a new Rolex watch.

Community and corporate support for the event has been strong, organizers said.

"Since 80% of our students receive financial aid, this strong corporate and community support will translate into real scholarship monies," said Tournament Executive Committee co-chair Dr. Stephen Lunce, associate professor of information systems.

Dr. Henry C. Smith, Tournament Executive Committee co-chair, noted this year's event will include a number of additional activities for participants.

"We'll have five Skills Contents with a Grand Prize of a new 1999 Mustang from Sames Ford, an awards dinner, silent auction and a Texas A&M University System challenge, said Dr. Smith.
