Two free workshops designed to help students succeed on the TASP (Texas Academic Skills Program) will be held at Texas A&M International University Apr. 22 and 24 .

A TASP Writing Workshop, a review for the writing section of the TASP, will be held on Thursday, Apr. 22 from 1 - 4 p.m. in Building C room 125.

A TASP Math Workshop, a review for the math section of the TASP, will be held on Saturday, Apr. 24 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Building C room 125.

Both workshops are sponsored by the University's Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) and are open to anyone in the community who needs to prepare for the TASP, as well as to all A&M International students.

Persons who attend the workshops will become familiar with the contents of the test, the format of the test items, and the best strategies for working through the TASP test.

TASP is a statewide program required by Texas law to ensure that students entering Texas public colleges and universities have the basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills needed to be successful in college-level work.

All full- or part-time students enrolled at Texas public colleges and universities and those entering any educator preparation program in Texas must take the TASP, unless qualified for TASP exemption.

Students who need more information on the TASP may contact Sandra Sanders, AEC associate director, at 326-2132 during normal business hours.
