Registration Underway at A&M International for Summer Programs

Texas A&M International University's Office of Continuing Education is conducting registration for three educational summer programs for kids and teens to be held at the University June 28 - July 23.

"Kinder Camp," for 4- and 5-year-olds, will be held weekday mornings from 8:30 a.m. - 12 noon. Fun, hands-on activities presented in a stress-free, non-classroom environment will provide learning experiences in math, science, reading, art, and music. Kinder Camp tuition is $200 for the first child, and $180 for each additional child.

Children's Summer Workshop, for 1st-6th graders, will also be held mornings, from 8:30 a.m. - 12 noon. Participants enroll in three subjects of their choice. Subject offerings are: Computer Whizz I; Computer Pro II; Co-Op Sports; Fundamentals of Gymnastics; Family Tree History Book; Charm and Etiquette for Girls; What's A Matter? Gas, Solid, Liquid (science); Do Re Mi (music) and Figure It Out (math). Tuition is $225 for the first child, and $200 for one additional child. Additional lab fees apply for those who choose computer or science offerings.

Summer Academy, for 7th-12th graders, will be held weekday afternoons from 12 - 5 p.m. Participants may enroll in 3 or 4 subjects of their choice. Subject offerings for 7th - 8th graders are: Creative Sculpture; Cyberspace Scavenger Hunt; English PSAT Prep; Fundamentals of Fishing 101; Hypnosis; Introduction to Paint; Etiquette for the Finer Things; Kitchen Chemistry: Homemade Products; and Math PSAT Prep. Subject offerings for 9th - 12th graders are: Computer Graphics; Creative Sculpture; Cyber Prep for Higher Education; Dining and Exploration with Fermentation; Fashion Design/Drawing and Creativity; Fundamentals of Fishing 101; Hypnosis; Math Prep--ACT/SAT; Computer Interactive SAT Preparation; Native American Folklore: Arts/Crafts/Design; and Who Dunit: Forensics (science). Tuition for the Summer Academy is $250 for 3 courses or $300 for 4 courses. Additional lab fees apply for those who choose science, art, or computer courses.

Class size for Kinder Camp, Children's Summer Workshop, and Summer Academy is limited to 20 students in order to maximize individualized instruction. Registration is based on a first come, first served basis, and no additional classes will be open.
