If you thought you had to leave Laredo to find a fabulous Fourth of July celebration, think again. The Texas A&M International University campus will sparkle with red, white, and blue patriotism as the University presents its second annual free outdoor Fourth of July concert on Sunday, July 4 at 8 p.m. in the campus main plaza.

Dubbed "Laredo, USA: A Fourth of July Celebration and Picnic," the casual event is family-friendly and alcohol-free.

The community is invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to the free concert and enjoy the sights and sounds of some of Laredo's top entertainers.

Featured performers will include the Texas A&M International University Band directed by veteran musician Elmo Lopez Sr., A&M International's Dance Performance Troupe directed by Bede Leyendecker; the University's energetic High Twisters dance team; the University Choir led by Fritz Gechter, assistant professor of Fine Arts at A&M International; and the River City Big Band, a concert band formed from the University Band that plays musical selections from the Glenn Miller era.

Featured guest performers include the Vidal M. Treviño Dancers.

A variety of food and non-alcoholic refreshments will be sold during the concert, including soft drinks, hot dogs, and ice cream.
