A&M International Faculty Members, Administrator Travel to Morocco

Two Texas A&M International University faculty members and an administrator recently traveled to Casablanca, Morocco to present their research at the International Trade and Finance Association's Ninth International Conference.

The four-day conference, hosted by the Finance Ministry of Morocco, attracted more than 180 scholars and academics from around the world and was co-sponsored by King Hassan II of Morocco and San Diego State University.

Dr. Kamal Fatehi, chair of the Department of Management and Marketing, presented his paper with Dr. Foad Derakhshan of California State University-San Bernardino titled, "Globalized Business and Child Labor: Corporate Responsibility and Strategies to Combat the Problem."

Also, Dr. Kurt Jesswein, associate professor of international banking, co-authored and presented a paper with Dr. Martin Glaum of Europa-Universitat Viadrina (Germany) titled, "Global Accounting and Disclosure Requirements: A Comparison of U.S. And German Views." Jesswein also chaired a session on theoretical Issues.

In addition, Duane W. Burdorf, director of the Texas Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development, chaired a session on Western Hemispheric Issues. Burdorf also presented his research titled, "The First Five Years of NAFTA Along the U.S. - Mexico Border: An Analysis of Cross-Border Trade."
