A&M International Cheer Squad Camp, Tryouts Sept. 29 - Oct. 2

Texas A&M International University's newest chartered student organization, the Dustdevil Co-Ed Cheer Squad, will hold a Cheer Camp and tryouts for students interested in joining the Squad.

Students who wish to try out for the Cheer Squad must meet the following eligibility requirements: must be enrolled at A&M International during the Fall and Spring semesters for at least six hours per semester for undergraduates or three hours per semester for graduates; must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for undergraduates, 3.0 for graduates; may not be on disciplinary probation; and must have two years of previous cheerleading or related dance experience.

University students who meet eligibility requirements must attend a mandatory meeting on Friday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. in Pellegrino Hall room 101. Cheer Squad candidates must also attend a three-day Cheer Camp Sept. 29 - Oct. 1. Camp schedule is 5 - 9 p.m. in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Great Room Sept. 29 - 30, and 6:30 - 9 p.m. in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building Oct. 1. Camp fee is $10.

Tryouts will be held Saturday, Oct. 2 from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building. Students must meet eligibility requirements, and must have participated in both the mandatory meeting and Cheer Camp to participate in the tryouts.

Students who are selected for the Squad will be required to attend scheduled practices and public performances. Cheer Squad members must also participate in no less than 10 hours of community service per month.
