A&M International Professor's Art Exhibited at Center for the Arts

Art works by Texas A&M International University assistant professor of art Janet Krueger will be exhibited at the Laredo Center for the Arts' Exhibit Hall West Sept. 3-30.

A special opening reception at the Center, 500 San Agustin Avenue, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9.

Krueger, who makes her home in Encinal, focuses on the colorful nuances of rural life and ranching in her exhibit entitled "Passim."

Other artists included in the exhibit are Luz Montes and the winners of the Pentel International Children's Art Competition.

Krueger joined the University's College of Arts and Humanities faculty in Fall 1998. She holds her MFA in Painting from the University of Texas at San Antonio and her BFA in Art History from UT-Austin. Her work experience has included service as an artist-in-residence in College Station, Encinal and San Ygnacio. She also served on the Laredo Community College faculty.

Last year she appeared before the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities Meeting (PCAH) in San Antonio to relate her experiences as a working and teaching artist. She presented a retrospective of her work and how it is shaped by her audience.

The recipient of numerous prizes and awards for her work, she has exhibited across the state including the offices of Laura Bush, wife of Governor George Bush; the Wunderlich Gallery in Austin; Blue Door Gallery in San Antonio; the Laredo Center for the Arts and Texas A&M University in College Station, among others. She is currently represented by Carrington-Gallagher Ltd. of San Antonio.
