University's International Student Association Announces Officers

The Association of International Students (AIS), a chartered student organization at Texas A&M International University, has elected officers for the 1999-2000 academic year.

New officers are Celine Lheriter, president; Catherine Ndinda, vice president; Vijai Misra, secretary; Peter Lobo, treasurer; Mustapha Miloudi, marketing officer; and Laxman Iyer, publicity officer. AIS sponsors are David VerMilyea, director of Student Development at A&M International, and Lakshmana Viswanath, director of the University's Computer and Telecommunications Services department.

The AIS promotes the exchange of international cultures, stimulates and encourages social and intellectual activities, and strives towards better appreciation among international and American students. The organization participates in a number of University-sponsored events and in events sponsored by the community.

The AIS will host their fifth annual "International Students Festival" on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 4 - 8:30 p.m. The free event showcases the food, dance, and fashion of countries represented by the University's diverse student population.
