Texas A&M International University students Nicki B. Cone and Michelle C. Doane traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to attend the International Convention of Sigma Tau Delta, the prestigious International English Honor Society.

Cone and Doane represented Alpha Gamma Omicron, the A&M International chapter of Sigma Tau Delta. Their participation in the Convention was made possible, in part, through a grant from the University's Student Government Association.

The International Convention offered a unique opportunity to hear from and associate with eminent persons in the profession of English.

Among the noted authors who lectured at the Convention were Andrew Hudgins, author of five books of poetry, Erin McGraw, author of two collections of short fiction, and Amy Tan, internationally acclaimed author of The Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God's Wife, and The Hundred Secret Senses.

The Convention also featured essay presentations by students on topics including poetry, prose, and novels.

For more information, contact Dr. Robert Haynes, Alpha Gamma Omicron faculty sponsor and Associate Professor of English, at 326-2603. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
