"Dusty," Texas A&M International University's mascot, is lacing up the sneaks and getting in step for the fifth presentation of the "Dusty Fun Run and Walk," a fundraiser that benefits student scholarships.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 13 at 8 a.m. on the A&M International campus. Participants can choose from competitive 5 and 10K runs, in addition to a non-competitive two-mile Fun Walk.

President Charles Jennett said the Dusty Fun Run and Walk provides a fun way for community members to help support student scholarships.

At A&M International, we strive to attract the best and brightest students to our beautiful campus every year. In order to achieve this goal, we need to provide our students with the necessary financial support to pursue their academic endeavors. With the partnership of our community, we can assure that all A&M International students can receive the assistance they need," Dr. Jennett said.

Jennett noted that last year's event attracted 180-plus runners and walkers.

"We were delighted with the response from the community. We also had participants from as far away as Monterrey and Kingsville joining us. It was very encouraging to see everyone from grade school students to grandmothers joining in on the fun. We're looking forward to a record participation and assistance for our student scholarship fundraising efforts," he said.
