Texas A&M International University invites anyone in the community who needs to prepare for the Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP ) to attend two free TASP workshops Oct. 21 and 23.

A TASP Writing Workshop, a review for the writing section of the TASP, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 3:15 - 5:15 p.m. in Bullock Hall, room 221.

A TASP Math Workshop, a review for the math section of the TASP, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Bullock Hall, room 221.

The workshops will familiarize participants with the contents of the test, the format of the test items, and the best strategies for working through the TASP test.

Both free workshops are sponsored by the University's Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) and are open to anyone who needs to prepare for the TASP, as well as to all A&M International students.

TASP is a statewide program required by Texas law to ensure that students entering Texas public colleges and universities have the basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills needed to be successful in college-level work.

All full- or part-time students enrolled at Texas public colleges and universities and those entering any educator preparation program in Texas must take the TASP, unless qualified for TASP exemption.

The TASP will be administered at A&M International on Nov. 13.

Students who need more information on the TASP may contact Sandra Gray, AEC associate director, at 326-2132. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Information may also be secured by email at ssgray@tamiu.edu.
