'Preview Day' Set at A&M International Saturday

An opportunity for students and their parents to visit Texas A&M International University and become familiar with its programs and services is set this Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2:30 p.m. in the Kinesiology and Convocation Building.

"Preview Day '99" is designed to answer common questions, introduce students to University faculty and student service representatives and meet with fellow students, said event organizer Ronnie Gonzalez, Director of Enrollment Management.

"This is one of our most popular events that both students and parents enjoy because we've focused on answering questions that both are concerned about as they consider their future higher education," Gonzalez said.

"They'll have a chance to meet faculty members, explore the campus, tap into our financial aid program, visit on-campus housing and meet members of one of the State's most diverse student bodies," she added.

Along the way, those attending will enjoy on-campus entertainment including dance performances and demonstrations by some of the University' student clubs. The event will close with a cookout for all participants at University Village, the student housing complex.

The event gets underway at 2:30 p.m. with an Information Fair. Opening Ceremonies at 3 p.m. will feature performances by the A&M International Dance Club, the High Twisters and a demonstration by the Judo Club.

A tour of the University will follow with stops to ponder the mysteries of science, meet the author of Ghost Towns and Camp Fires on the Rio Grande, a chance to "make cents" with business professors and to explore the diverse fields of education.

A general session is scheduled at 5:20 with information on admission, financial aid, scholarships, housing, student life and orientation.

The closing Cookout will feature burgers, refreshments, ice cream, performances by the Dustdevil Co-Ed Cheer Squad and a chance for prizes and surprises.
