If you're wishing to explore the world without leaving your city, an international festival taking place at Texas A&M International University Saturday, March 25 may interest you.

The annual International Students Festival, which, over the years, has brought the world to Laredo through exhibitions, dances, exotic food and fashion shows, will once again take center stage at A&M International. The event is free of charge and open to the public from 12 - 6 p.m. on the University Green.

"This is a great occasion for participants to learn about different cultures, customs and discover new countries," said Céline Lheritier, president of the Association of International Students, the student group organizing the event, "You will also be able to meet new people in a relaxed atmosphere."

Lheritier said the students have made great efforts to plan a successful event.

"We'll set up an international restaurant in the middle of the Green, where exotic food will be sold," Lheritier said.

An international fashion show, scheduled from 4 - 5:30 p.m. will feature traditional apparels of numerous countries ranging from Mexico to Morocco, Lheritier said.

Booths will also be set up so that participants can obtain information about the various countries, Lheritier said.

David VerMilyea, director of Student Development, said the event will be an ideal opportunity for the community to visit the University campus and meet international students who have traveled far to obtain a quality education at A&M International.

"We would like to invite everyone to come and spend the day with us for cultural enrichment and a wonderful educational experience," he said.

For further information about the Festival, please contact VerMilyea at 326-2282. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
