Texas A&M International University students are invited to participate in a three-day leadership conference to be held at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Aug. 13 - 15.

The Fourth Annual South Texas Leadership Conference will give students from three south Texas A&M System campuses--A&M International, A&M University-Corpus Christi, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville--an opportunity to meet, network, and develop their leadership skills.

Conferences costs for A&M International students will be paid by the University. Students must submit a registration application to the University's Office of Student Development by 5 p.m. Friday, April 28.

Gabriela Mendoza-Garcia, Associate Director of Student Development at A&M International said the conference will prepare students to take an active leadership role on campus and in the community.

"The conference will enhance the students' classroom preparation and will better equip them for the real challenges of a changing world. It will also provide these future leaders with an opportunity to nurture and develop skills that will help to inform their lives and future careers," explained Mendoza-Garcia.

She added that the conference underscores the University's commitment to augmenting superior classroom education by exposing students to additional learning opportunities not conventionally available to most students.

A&M International was instrumental in establishing the Conference and has participated in the annual event since its inception in 1997. The Conference rotates from campus to campus each year. Last year it was hosted by A&M International.

For more information, please contact Mendoza-Garcia at 326-2280 or visit the Office of Student Development located in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building, Room 107. University office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
